Of Galician origin and popular throughout the country, these peppers are characterized by their small size, green color and conical shape. Its most curious aspect is the intense spicy flavor that only some have, hence the saying that "some Padrón peppers are hot and others are not." It is something invaluable until you try it, since there are no visible differences between them. These peppers have a nutritional value very similar to that of green peppers. Its main component is water, so its caloric intake is minimal. However, if they are fried in plenty of oil, the calories increase, not because of the peppers, but because of the absorption of oil.
Raw, these peppers are an excellent source of vitamin C, but this is not the usual way to consume them. Fried or grilled they lose much of it. Its content of vitamin A and E stands out, and potassium and magnesium are abundant among its minerals.
It is recommended not to consume these peppers for people with delicate stomachs since, although not all of them are spicy, the chances that some of them will do so are high.
